A Story About Reducing Waste

I have lived in my home for 34 years. I've increased the insulation, installed new windows, installed a high-efficiency furnace. I've composted for almost all of the time that I've lived here. I don't wash my car and let soap go into the sewer. I recycle everything, and use compostable bags for the stuff that can't be recycled. Our thermostat is set low in the winter (sweaters and blankets are required) and in the summer the windows are open most of the time. We don't have a lawn. We have flowers, trees and fruit bushes, all completely organic. We watch the Monarchs and the birds enjoy our property. And we don't flush the toilet if there is only urine in it. Our water bill dropped 20% when we started to limit our flushing. "If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down"
